Thomas Terry (1607-72) from England on the "James" 1635; resided at
Braintree, Massachusetts and New Haven, Connecticut. New England History
and General Register Volume XV, Page 131. Long Island Early Affairs see
Thomas Terry signed 1659 intended owner of Plantation to be transported
from the town of Lynn, Massachusetts.
Thomas Terry came with brother, Richard in 1635. An early settler
at Southampton then to Southold about 1655.
SOUTHOLD TOWN RECORDS - Volume I, page 43
Thomas Terry, died 1672, wife Marie died January 14, 1659. He left
two sons, Daniel and Thomas, and daughters, Elizabeth, Ruth and Mary, who
is supposed to have married James Reeves, who owned the lot adjoining
Thomas Terry on the south. Daniel Terry lived upon the lot his father
occupied, from the record of his home lot in 1686.

THOMAS TERRY, SR. Southold. "I, Thomas Terry, Sen., of Southold,
being very sicke and weake." Leaves to beloved wife (not named) fifteen
bushels of corn yearly, during her life. Ten bushels to be paid by my
son Daniel, and five by my son Thomas. Also household goods and four
bushels of apples yearly. "And if my son Daniel marry, and they doe not
like to live together, then my son Daniel shall build my wife a
convenient house for her comfortable living." To daughter Elizabeth a
cow when she marries or comes of age. Legacies to daughter Ruth and
daughter Mary Reeve. To son Daniel "my house and accommodations within
ye old bounds, and one half my land at Ackabache." To son Thomas all my
land at Cutchock, and one half my land at Ackabacke.

13 July, 1635. Theis vnder written names are to be transported to
New England imbarqued in the James, Jn o May Mr. for N:E: p'r Cert: from
the minister of their confimity in Religion and that they are no Subsedy
men.
Among the names listed for this voyage were, Thomas Terry, aged 28
years; Robert Terry, aged 25 years; and Richard Terry, aged 17 years.

Thomas Terry, born in England in the year 1607, came to New England
in 1635, settled at Braintree, Massachusetts, removed Southold, Long
Island in the year 1646, accepted as freeman of Connecticut in the year
1662.

TERRY -- According to Moore ("Index," pp. 39, 40), the original arrivals
on Long Island were the brothers Thomas I and Richard I, who came from
England in the "James," in 1635.
Thomas I, born in 1607; died in 1672. He was in Queens County, in
1661; and at Southold, from 1662. Among his sons were: Daniel (2), and
Thomas (2). Daniel married Sarah - -; died 10 November 1706. Among his
sons was Samuel (3), married Naomi Dicerson, in 1715-6; died in 1762.
Thomas (2) married first Eliza - -; second perhaps Eleanor, Widow of
George Havens; died probably 24 March 1724. He had a son, Thomas (3),
who married Mehitable, daughter of Dea. Daniel Tuthull; died 17 January
1740. His sons: Colonel Thomas (4), below and Jonathan (4) born in
1713-4. (Moore, pp. 39, 40, 118, 119) Jonathan (4) married Lydia,
daughter of Dea. Daniel Tuthill; whose daughter, Deziah (5) married James
Griffin, the father of Augustus Griffin, the Historian. Ruth (4),
daughter of Thomas (3) married Captain David Wiggins.

I am related down from James Delamar Mather. The Bible I have was started by Buell Conklin Mather his brother Alexander had it next. I got it from my Aunt who had no children.she died in Marcellus. I landed up in Calif.after marriage.

Subsedy men, they have taken the oath of Alled. & Supremacie,

They arrived at Boston in a few weeks following, and soon were granted
land in the present town of Brookline, near Muddy River, adjoining
Boston. Here the family remained two or three years, when they removed
to the town of Weymouth, some nine miles to the southeast.
