Jamestown, Rhode Island, lived Portsmouth, died February 21/25 1706,
Shelter Island, but a New York Historical Society records says letters of
administration were issued February 11, 1706-7 to wife Eleanor and the

the Old Cemetery, New London, Connecticut. He married 1674, Eleanor or
Elinor Thurston daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Mott) Thurston of
Newport, Rhode Island. Eleanor was born March 1655-8, died November 7,
1747, at age 93; she married (2) Thomas Terry of Southold. Mallman says
his will was dated January 11, 1704, proved March 12, 1707. Moore's
Index says he was a Newport, Rhode Island, that he bought 1,000 acres on
Shelter Island in 1699, and that he deeded in 1701 200 acres of it to his
son Jonathan and 240 acres in 1706-7 to his son John. (Mallman says
Edward Thurston b 1617 died March 1 1707, married June 1647 to Elizabeth
daughter of Adam Mott; she was born 1629, died September 2, 1694)

George was a freeman 1680 and was taxed at Kingstown, Rhode Island,
September 6, 1687, and was a constable there July 15, 1695. In 1696, he
sold farms on Boston Neck. He was on Shelter Island in 1701 and the
following year sold a farm near E. Greenwich, Rhode Island.

He was 53 when he died in 1706-7. He was buried in the New London,
Conn., cemetery. He died intestate and letters of administration were
issued February 11, 1706-7 to widow Eleanor.
