The children all appear to be born of this marriage. From
studying the names of the children and the names in the James Parshall
family, it is my contention that the first wife was Mary Parshall. I
have no proof for this. Their son Richard names one of their son's
Parshall.

states Richard's first wife Deborah Halsey, second Prudence Griffing
Richard had children: Deborah, Sarah, Richard [ca. 1719], Dorothy,
Hannah, Abigail, & child [d. 2/27/1725].

Richard Terry, Southold. Leaves to wife, Abigail, during her life,
"the accommodations in Town, and house & lot that properly belongs to
the house, that is the 4 acre joins to the house, with the orchard.
And 8 acres of land that lyes at the North Sea, and 2 acres in Calves
neck, and 1 acre in the old field, and 2 acres of meadow in the Great
meadow at Catchache." Leaves to son Gershom, "one half of my wood
land at Catchache." To son Samuel the other half, "and a piece of
meadow that was my brother Thomas Terry's." Leaves to daughter
Abigail 20 acres of land lying in the Fort neck to her and her heirs,
"that is to say, Thomas Rider's heirs." Leaves to sons Nathaniel &
Richard, "my house and the land which I live upon here at Squash
neck," with the meadow in Fresh meadow when Richard is twenty-one.
Leaves to son John, after his wife's decease, "the house &
accommodations in Town." "I leave all my children to be at my wife's
command, to be educated & brought up, both for the good of their Souls
and Bodys," til the sons are twenty-one and the daughters are
eighteen. Leave to son Samuel two acres of meadow at Ackabache. Not
dated. Makes wife and son Gershom executors. Witnesses, Barnabas
Wynes, Sarah Wynes.
Postscript.-- When my wife see cause to live in the Towne, my three
eldest sons are to fitt and repair her house in a habitable and
comfortable manner."
The will having been proved at last Court of Sessions in Southold,
the executors were confirmed May 13, 1676.

On May 13 of 1635, Richard [aged 17] immigrated from Salisbury,
Wiltshire, England to America with his brothers:Thomas [aged 28] &
Robert [aged 25] on the ship "James". They landed at Salem,
Massachusetts. He ramained there only a short time before he removed
to Springfield and then on to Lynn. Finally, in 1640, he moved to
Long Island as one of the thirteen original settlers at Southold. His
brother, Thomas later settled at Southold and Robert at Flushing. He
died on his farm "Quashaneck" near Southold. He was recorder of
Southold Town and its clerk from 1664 to 1673. He recorded the names
and births of his children there. Abigail lived on the family farm
with her son John after Richard died. She was still living in 1686.
The Lines name was variously spelled - Loines, Line, Lyne, Linde,
Lyne,Linde, etc.
