VALENTINE FAMILY

The WILL of RICHARD2 VALENTINE dated 1725, says wife Sarah, eldest son Richard,3 youngest son Jonathan,3 other son David,3 daughters Sarah3 Smith, Phebe3 Downing, Anne3 Carle and Hannah3 Pine.

The Will of Richard4 Valentine, of Hempstead Harbor, son of Richard, now living in 1763, says "wife Phebe and small children, son Richard to have a double share of property, daus. Abigail, Sarah, Mary, Phebe and Martha, brother in-law Benj'n. Robbins."

The Will of Richard3 Valentine, of Hempstead Harbor, 1768, says "sister Ann Pearsall, son Joseph,
daughter-in-law Phebe Valentine, deceased son Richard's children, grandson George Weeks to have his own, and the share of his brother Richard, deceased, grandson Richard Kirk -- and grand-daughters Jemima Baker and Abigail Weeks."

Sarah Valentine, dau. of Richard and Phebe, was living in Bethpage, in 1836.

RICHARD1 VALENTINE, one of the first settlers of Hempstead, took his share in the first division of land in 1647.

In 1657. R. V. had land at Merrick in company with Richard Cornell.

In 1659. Richard Vallingtyne was one of the five chosen Townsmen of the town of Hempstead. The other four were Francis Wicks, Robert Marvin, Adam Mott and Richard Brutnall.

In 1676. R. V. was Overseer, and in 1679, he was Constable.

In 1684. The widow was named in the Tax List, -- also four sons, viz:

Richard2 jr. 1676, had grant of land, Richard,3 son of Richard had brother-in-law Thomas Clement, in 1700. Timothy Halstead gave to his son-in-law, Richard Valentine, Will in 1686. Deborah Valentine, dau. of Rich'd., probably R.3 m. 1736, Samuel Weeks had dau. Abigail Weeks, who m. 1770, Rich'd. Titus, her father gave her some Valentine Manuscript, still preserved by their descendants.
