Stephen spelled his name Lines, his great uncle Joshua Cox, in his will gave Stephen the silver watch that had been his brother Samuel's, Stephen's grandfather. The watch was with the Lines family in 1889. Penelope was soon a widow and m. 2d John Hawxhurst and had several children.

Dr. Ernest5 Howard Lines (son of Samuel Lines and Jane Crosby) m. Elisabeth Lindsay James of New York.

Nathaniel Lynes (son of Roger) and Damaris (Baylis), eldest son Nathaniel m. Eunice Burroughs. He was a barber and lived in New York when they sold land at Jamaica in 1706.

1683. Ann Coles, widow of John being on the eve of a 2d m. with William Lynes, of Cow Neck gave half her land at Matinecock to her son Solomon Coles.

1689. Wm. Lyne bought land at Cow Neck of Elias and Sarah Doughty.

1691. Richard Osborne sold land to Wm. Lines of Cow Neck and wife Ann.

1713. William Lynes and Mary, his wife sold property at Jerusalem South, (or Oyster Bay, West Neck) to Elias Cornelius. Thomas Whitson lived many years on the place and sold it to Minell.

1745. William Loines bought land of Samuel Baldwin at Westbury.

1762. William Loines bought 60 acres at Westbury of Elisabeth and Richard Willis.

1776. Sarah Loines m. Samuel Gorham.

There were Loines' on New Haven Record, Ralph Loines m. Abiah Bassett.

1650. Henry Loines, son of John, of Badby, 2 miles from Daventry, 13 miles from Northampton had home in New Haven, he d. 1663, left widow, children:

(On list of Births spelled Lines, on list of Proprietors Loines. Some of them were on the Isle of Wight. I cannot connect the families, but it seems possible that Roger, Henry and Ralph may have been brothers. The name is said to be French, De Loines. M. P. B.)
