Nathaniel Jarvis, (1743-78), enlisted, 1776, in the New York Line for the war. He was at the battle of White Plains and died May 12, 1778, from exposure at Valley Forge. The widow lived near the “Brick Church” used as a prison in New York City, and her daughter Sarah was often able to elude the guards to carry food to the American prisoners.
