Question:
How do I find who I am looking for?
Answer:
There are a number of ways, but the search function provides the most straight forward method. The advanced search form allows you to enter information about the individual you're looking for and presents you with a list of possible matches from the database.
You might also want to try looking at the surnames in the database if you don’t have a clear picture of who you’re looking for.

Question:
How do I find an individual's ancestors?
Answer:
Once you locate an individual, the easiest method is to press the Ancestors tab. This will show you a graphical display of both the paternal and maternal ancestors.

Once you have the ancestor chart displayed, you can click on the arrows located at the far right ancestor if you need to see additional ancestors. There are a number of formats for you to choose from (Standard, Compact, Box, Text, Ahnentafel, and Photos & History) to display ancestors. Try clicking on the various options and see which one works best for you.

What if I want to see an individual's descendants?
Answer:
The tab marked Descendants can be used to display the descendants of an individual. There are a couple of different formats that descendants can be displayed. You can switch between the Standard and Register format to display the information the way that works best for you.

Can descendants be shown in a graphical format?  
Answer:
Yes, Once in the Descendants are displayed, you can show a specific branch of descendants from the selected ancestor by pressing the descendant icon next to the descendant you wish to display.

Question:
Is there a way to tell if two individuals are related?
Answer:
Yes, the Relationship tab will show a graphic display of all the people between two relatives. To use this function, locate the first individual and then press the Relationship tab. Then use the find button to locate the second person to be displayed. Once you have the two people selected click the calculate button to display their relationship.

The Timeline function looks interesting, what is it?
Answer:
A timeline is displayed for an individual when the Timeline tab is clicked. The time line shows important events in history that occurred during the life of an individual or a group of individuals. It gives you a unique perspective to see what was going on in the world during the lives of our ancestors.

Question:
If I see a mistake in the information presented can I correct it?
Answer:
The suggestion tab allows you to send corrections, updates, comments or any other information to the database administrator. Information on which individual you are referencing is automatically attached to the message when you make a suggestion using the Suggestion tab. The database administrator will take your suggestion and add it to the database, usually within 24hrs..

Question:
Is there a way to print the display without all the headers and icons?
Answer:
Yes, just click on the Print link locate above the control tabs. A format that is simplified for printing is presented and you can use the print function of you browser to print the page.

Question:
What are the four dropdown boxes for that are located on the upper right of the page?
Answer:
These icons let you access additional information that is contained in the database. You can hover your mouse pointer over each or press the Question Mark icon to obtain a description of what each icon does

Why use this site? What's different about it?
Answer:
This is a non-profit site! It's not just another message board. You can view a regional selection specific to the area you are researching.  If you see errors or additions needed you can easily and quickly have them corrected or added by contacting us.  We respond quickly and get the informtion out to others.  This is your help each other find your roots.

Why can't I see all the information on a certain person?
Answer:
We great pains in protecting the privacy of all family members. All names, dates and other information of living individuals are 'hidden'.

Question:
How do I display the Descendant Charts from the Individual Page?
Answer:
You can click on the Descendant tab to display a four-generation descendant text listing for the individual. The default is 4 generations, so if you want to see more generations, you can click on the Generations Pulldown and change the number of generations you want to see. The default Descendant display is in Text format.
You can click on the Larger View tab to display the descendant chart using the larger box view. If you want to see more than four generations, you can click on the Generations Pulldown and change the number of generations you want to see. However, you will have to scroll right in order to see the larger box view display.
You can click on the Smaller View tab to display the descendant chart using the smaller box view.

Question:
How do I display the Ancestors Charts from the Individual Page?
Answer:
You can click on the Ancestors tab to display the individual's ancestor chart. The default is 4 generations in Larger Box View format, so if you want to see more generations, you can click on the Generations Pulldown and change the number of generations you want to see. Note that if you display more than four generations you will also have to scroll right to view the chart.
You can click on the right arrow of one of the right most boxes to view the previous generation of ancestor in the pedigree view.
You can click on the down arrow under the ancestor box to display information on the individual and his/her family.
