Dr. Phineas Edgar (1872-1940)
Dr. Phineas Edgar Horton was an active dentist for 47 years who served as President of both the Forsyth County and the NC Dental Society and an Active Member: Home Moravian Church, Salem, Nc. He graduated from Winston Graded School, Salem Boys' School, Wilkesboro Academy, 1894, Dental Department, University of Maryland.
He was known as “Docky” to a wide circle of friends. Committed
to community service, Dr. Horton was a charter member and president of
the Winston-Salem Kiwanis Club; served on the Board of Aldermen of the
Town of Salem, and later was a member of the Board of Aldermen of
Winston-Salem, concluding his service acting as Mayor Pro Tem of the consolidated
city. He was deeply interested in the Wachovia Historical Society
and was a Board Member of the Home Moravian Church.
