Dear Sir:
Reference is made to your letter in which you request the Revolutionary War record of Nathan Horton, born in New Jersey in 1757 and died in Wilkes County, North Carolina.
The data furnished herein were obtained from the papers on file in the pension claim W. 7779, based upon the Revolutionary War service of Nathan Horton.
The date and place of birth of this soldier are not shown, nor are the names of his parents given.
Nathan Horton entered the service from Morris County, New Jersey, in December, 1777, served about five years as captain in Colonels' Hathaway's and Warren's New Jersey regiment.
After the Revolution he moved from New Jersey to Rowan County, North Carolina, and from there to Wilkes (later Wataugh) County, North Carolina.
He died July 23, 1823 or 1834 in Wilkes County, North Carolina.
Nathan Horton married July 10, 1783 in New York City, Elizabeth Eagles. She was born in Westchester County, New York, date of her birth not given, nor are the names of her parents.
The widow, Elizabeth Horton, was allowed pension on her application executed November 8, 1851, at which time was aged eighty-five years and living in Watauga County ,North Carolina. She stated at that time, that the soldier, Nathan Horton, if her were then living, would have been about one hundred and one years of age.

Their son, William, was referred to in 1852 as deceased, definite date of death not shown.
Soldier's brother, Phineas Horton, was a resident of Chester Township, New Jersey in 1853, aged seventy-three years, and stated that his brother, Nathan Horton, was twenty years his senior.
One Nathaniel Horton
was a resident of Chester Township, New Jersey in 1853, aged seventy-three
years, and one Jane Horton was eighty-two years of age in 1852 and living
in Washington County, Tennessee; their relationship to the family not stated.
