The Van Scoy-Edwards Cemetery
The Van Scoy-Edwards Cemetery is located on a wooded nature preserve just off of Northwest Road in an area of Easthampton called the Northwest Woods. The gravestones range in date from 1782 the earliest buriel, to 1884 the latest date on the memorial monument. There are a total of 11 burials with one metal monument to family members who were buried elsewhere. Although not nearly the oldest private family cemetry on the east end of Long Island, time and the elements have not been kind to the stones which memorialize these pioneering families. In fact two headstones are missing all together. Luckily throuh the use of today's technology, with a little time, effort and care we are able to preserve these memories for all time. |
