Nathaniel Hawkins Cemetery
This cemetery is in the hamlet of Brookhaven, between Old Stump and Barteau. (Cem. #39)

 In the 1980's. this cemetery was cleaned up, and was therefore visible, leading to much vandalism.  Area residents felt it was better to let the weeds and brush grow, hoping that it would not be noticed.

From the list made by Osborn Shaw of deaths prior to 1881, a number of stones have been moved:
David Carter's stone was moved to the old Brookfield Cemetery (#9A) in Manorville, by his family
David Tuthill Hawkins, Mehitable Hawkins, and Samuel Hawkins stones were moved to Baiting Hollow cemetery by family members.

Stones that remain include:
Dinah Hawkins, d. 2/26/1826, in her 73rd year;
Nathaniel Hawkins Born about 1752 d. 8/31/1823, in his 71st year  (Revolutionary War Patriot)
Phebe Hawkins, d. 7/14/1811, in her 24th year
Richard Terry, d. 7/13/1814, aged 35y 10m 18d

Plus a number of unreadable, unmarked or fieldstone headstones.
