Melville Cemetery
                    
    Melville Cemetery is located on Sweet Hollow Road, north of Old Country Road and just south of Northern State Parkway in the Melville section of the Town of Huntington. The cemetery is located in the very western section of Suffolk County, located not far from the border with the Town of Oyster Bay and Nassau County. Parts of this cemetery date to the mid 19th century.
    An inventory of the cemetery was done in 1936 by Alice H. Meigs and is found in her work "Suffolk County Cemeteries, Volume 3" to be found on LDS Microfilm Roll # 0017925.  Additional information comes from the personal notes of the submitter,  David  Roberts  Material included in these brackets [ ] was added by the submitter mainly from his printed "Deaths Reported by the 'Long Islander' 1878 - 1890 " or his "Deaths Reported by the 'Long Islander' 1891-1900" which is available on-line at this site.
