Lemuel Carll Cemetery

The location of this cemetery is not clear. It doesn't match easily with any cemetery listed in the booklet "Huntington Historic Cemeteries" issued in 1990 by Rufus B. Langhans, Huntington Town Historian. The 1899 obit of Lemuel "Uncle Lem" Carll states that he was buried in the "family plot on farm in West Hills." Mrs. Scudder calls it "Lemuel Carll Plot, West Hills" in her inventory done in April 1911. Information on burials in this cemetery can be found in her "Scudder Collection of Long Island Genealogical Records" available at the Huntington Historical Society or on L. D. S. microfilm. This cemetery may no longer exist. In May 1921, all the people listed below with the surnames CARLL and OAKLEY were re-moved to Huntington Rural Cemetery. At this time we are not sure where the remaining Ketcham, Whitman and Hawxhurst patrons were moved. The following data was submitted by David Roberts.
