BREWSTER FAMILY BURYING GROUND
Middle Island, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York
The Brewster family burying ground was located several hundred yards north of Route 25 in Middle Island somewhere west of what is now Lake View Terrace.
The stones were copied line for line by Osborn Shaw in the 1930s.  At some time the stones were moved to Union Cemetery in Middle Island.

1.   In memory of / Mr DANIEL BREW / STER who died / June 15th, 1748 / in the 61st year / of his age. (rss)

2.   DANIEL , Son of / WILLIAM & TEMPERANCE BREW- / STER who died Augt / 17th , 1761 / in the 2d / year of his age.  (rss)

3.   In memory of / ANN BREWSTER / who died Aprl / 23d 1786 / in the 25th year /  of her age.  (I copied it as April 27, 1786 in her 5th year but many years later)
 
4.   MARY daughter of / JOSIAH & / ELIZABETH WOOD / HULL who died / Aprl 4th 1789   / in the 5th year /  of her age.

5.   In / memory of / TEMMY / wife of ISAAC BREWSTER / who departed this life 26 / Febry 1794 in the 20th / year of her age.  (It looked like Penny to me)

6.   MARY daughter   / of WILLIAM & TEMPERANCE  BREW- / STER who died / Augt 8th 1776 in the 5th /  year of her age.

7.   WILLIAM BREW / STER who died Decr 5th /1789 / in the 35th year / of his age.

8.   ABIGAIL Dautr / of Capt. DAVID / & Mrs. PHEBE / MULFORD died / July 20th 1758 / Aged 1 year, 10 / Months, & 5 Days.

9.   WILLIAM /  BREWSTER / Died / May 1793 / Aged 61.

10.   TEMPERANCE / widow of /  WILLIAM BREWSTER / died / Nov. 1794 age 60.  (Note: Osborne Shaw said stones # 9 & 10 were white sand-stone, identical in size and design)

11.   In Memory of / JOHN BREWSTER / who died Sept. / 14th 1783 / in the 25th year / of his Age.

12.   JOSIAH  Son of WILLIAM and TEMPERANCE  BREWSTER who died Febr  16th 1771 in the 5th year of his age.

13.   In Memory of WILLIAM  BREWSTER who departed this Life May 18th, 1793, in the 63rd Year of his Age.   (Note: The last two stones were used as a well cover when they were copied.  Osborn Shaw told Leroy Smith that he was informed by Edward Pfeiffer who owned the house, that they were probably buried of destroyed when the State road builders filled in the well about 10 years ago or about 1927)
